Disney Vacation Countdowns

60 Day Disney Countdown Calendar

Here is a 60 Day Vacation Countdown I made for one of my clients. I normally make 30 day countdowns, but his mom told me he was so excited that she might start counting down at 60 days. So, I eagerly made a 60 day countdown for them and delivered it to her work (she lives near me). Have I mentioned I LOVE planning Disney trips???? It makes it especially fun when my clients really appreciate the extra effort I put into their family's vacation.

35 Day Disney Countdown Calendar

Materials needed are a yellow poster board. I bought one at a teacher store and cut off one row, but you could use a yellow poster board and make your own grid lines. You'll need about 4 pieces of black and polka dot scrapbook paper (Hobby Lobby), 4 red card stock pages, 1 white and black polka dot scrapbook paper, 2 pieces of yellow card stock pages, circle punch, circle scallop punch, small Mickey punch, large Mickey punch and doublestick tape.

Use a paper cutter to cut 2-3/4 inch squares from polka dot paper. Round the corners with a corner punch. Cut 2 inch squares with the red paper and round the corners. Print numbers 1-35 on the printer with enough space to punch a small Mickey head. Cut 2-3/4 inch squares for the title and round the corners.

After each day has passed, cover it with a black glitter Mickey head.

10 Day Mickey Pocket Corkboard Countdown

This is a 10 day countdown that includes a daily activity to get ready for the vacation. In a future post, I plan on listing at least 100 activities to do with your kids to get them even more excited for the trip. But, for now, I only have 10.
Day 10: Look at the maps of the parks you'll be visiting and make a list of  your top 5 rides/attractions. www.disneyworld.disney.go.com/maps
Day 9: Watch your top 5 rides/attractions on YouTube.
Day 8: Decorate a pillowcase to take on your vacation.
Day 7: Buy snacks for the ride to Disney World and for the parks and hotel.
Day 6: Download Disney songs on ITunes for the ride to Disney World.
Day 5: Buy glow in the dark necklaces and spinning lights for the parades and nighttime shows.
Day 4: Dress up like a princess or pirate. Let your parents add princess or pirate make-up and fix your hair like a princess or pirate.
Day 3: Have a Disney family movie night.
Day 2: Eat a Disney World meal: turkey legs, Mickey Mouse cheese shapes and Mickey cupcakes.
Day 1: Decorate the windows of your family's vehicle so everyone knows you're headed to Disney World!

Supplies Needed:
Corkboard (around $5 at Wal-Mart)
White buttons (around $2 at Wal-Mart)
Yellow, black, red and white card stock paper (Hobby Lobby or in bulk packages at Wal-Mart)
Red and white polka dot wrapping paper (Hobby Lobby)
*The pictures includes a circle punch, yellow polka dot scrapbook paper and yellow polka dot ribbon. I didn't use them.

I also used this Mickey ribbon from Wal-Mart (around $3)

Cover the board with wrapping paper and staple.

Make 10 Mickey heads (I used the ribbon spool and a medicine jar lid)

Put doublestick tape on the edges of the Mickey face and cover with yellow card stock paper. Cut off the extra paper. Attach two white buttons with doublestick tape. Type 10 activities to do and doublestick-taped them to black and white polka dot scrapbook paper. I made the title with yellow card stock with a white computer printed title with ribbon and black and white polka dot scrapbook paper as embellishments.

12 Day Mickey Magnetic
Muffin Tin Surprise Countdown

This project was much easier than I thought! I had originally planned on spray painting the muffin pan, but the finished product barely shows the silver. You will need a 12 (or 24 muffin pan) muffin pan, magnetic tape, card stock, polka dot scrapbook paper, Mickey stickers (I got them at Michael's) and 12 items to put in the muffin tins (I think Mickey Squinkies would be a great idea-I couldn't find any when I started the project, so I used candy).

Cut out 3-1/4 inch squares and attach magnetic strips to the corners of each square.

I cut out scrapbook paper squares and attached them to the yellow card stock.

I printed the numbers (using a free downloadable Mickey font) on white card stock paper and attached a Mickey sticker (The sticker page only had 10 stickers, so I made two Mickey heads from a punch that I have).

Here is a view of the magnetic square off and the item in the muffin cup.

20 Day Frame/Post-It Note Disney Countdown

I made these frames for my daughter and niece's Disney World trip that was planned as a surprise (in other words, little time to count down to the vacation) for them! I bought the frames at Wal-Mart ($3.97 I believe) and painted them. Then, I used my big and little Mickey punches that I bought from Hobby Lobby and punched out pink glitter paper Mickey heads and black glitter paper Mickey heads and double-stick taped them to the frames. For the inside of the frames, I covered a piece of cardboard with scrapbook paper. I wrote numbers 1-20 on Post-it notes. If I had to do this over again, I would not use Post-it notes but rather hooks and hole punched rectangles (see a picture below for one that I made later). I hot glued ribbon to the backs of the frame so they would hang on the wall.

35 Day Calendar Grid Disney Countdown

I printed 35 activities to do each day. For the calendar grid, I bought this at a teacher supply store. I printed the numbers out on card stock and punched them with a big Mickey head punch. I used red and white polka dot scrapbook paper and cut into 2-1/2 inch squares. I cut black card stock paper into 1 inch squares and double-stick taped them on the red and white polka dot squares.

After each day passes, tape a Disney activity Mickey head over the number. The activities were chosen from the list of "200 Disney activities to do before your Disney vacation" blog post on this blog.

I printed the 35 activities onto yellow card stock paper and punched them out with a big Mickey head punch.

42 Day Calendar Disney Vacation Countdown

I bought a red calendar poster at a teacher supply store for a few dollars. I cut black and white polka dot scrapbook paper into 2-1/2 inch squares. Then, I cut yellow card stock paper into 2 inch squares. I printed the numbers on red card stock paper and punched them out with a big Mickey head punch.

The calendar before it was decorated

After each day is completed, cover it with  scalloped circles that spell out "WE ARE LEAVING FOR OUR DISNEY TRIP TODAY!".

365 Day Frame And Hook Disney Vacation Countdown

I made these frames just like the ones posted above except I used hooks to attach the numbers instead of Post-it notes. Also, I used scrapbook letters for the title. The pink frame only has 99 days, but I made a separate cardboard insert that included 3 hooks and enough numbers to start at 365.

28 Day Mini Disney Countdown Calendar

These calendars were made using a calendar scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby. I covered the top and edges with polka dot scrapbook paper. I punched out polka dot circles and Mickey heads with numbers. When the day is complete, you cover a glitter Mickey head on top of the number. The title was punched in circles, too. For "Katy's Countdown", I used pink letter scrapbook stickers and for "Bradley's Countdown", I printed the letters onto red card stock paper and punched the letters using my circle punch.

                    100 Day Disney Vacation Countdown

To make the countdown calendar, I used pink wrapping paper (Dollar General), black card stock (Wal-Mart), pink and white polka dot scrapbook paper (Hobby Lobby), pink construction paper (Hobby Lobby), a corner rounder punch (Hobby Lobby), paper cutter, doublestick tape and a big Mickey head punch (Hobby Lobby). I printed the title letters on black cardstock using a Mickey font and cut each letter out and I printed numbers 1-100 using a Mickey font onto pink construction paper (make sure you cut the paper to 8-1/2 X11 size to fit the printer). Each day my daughter places a glitter Minnie head (made out of pink glitter scrapbook paper and using doublestick tape to secure) over the numbered Minnie head.
